About Our Prints
Giclée (zhee-klay) is a term to denote a method of printing that can best be described as spraying. The word is derived from the French word “gicler” which means to “squirt.” In this type of printing no screen or other mechanical method is used and because of this there is no visible dot pattern. Only Epson, MacDermid Colorspan and Hewlett-Packard can lay claim to producing true Giclée prints. At Polar Photography we only use Epson quality printers in the reproduction of our Giclée prints. The quality of the Giclée print matches the traditional gelatin and silver-halide printing, which is frequently found in photographic galleries, art galleries and museums.
